May 2014

1/ Opening of the Shrine Pilgrimage Season begins today with Mass at the Grotto at 11:30 AM (if it rains, then Mass is celebrated in the Grotto Chapel). On this Feast of St. Joseph we implore his intercession for us and for the whole Church as we continue to discern all that God has planned for us.

11/ Celebration of Mother’s Day at the Lourdes in Litchfield Shrine. Consider joining us for Mass today and praying for the women in our lives. Please bring flowers or plants that can be transplanted onto the grotto property later in the month as a way to honor these most special people in our lives.

18/ Annual Blessing of Motorcycles takes place this afternoon at 1:30PM. If you know of any motorcyclists who begin their riding season on this weekend, please invite them to pass in front of the grotto and receive a blessing for safety.
There is no 3 PM service this afternoon.

25/ Annual May Crowning of the statue of the Blessed Mother at the Grotto following 11:30 AM Mass. Please bring flowers to leave at the foot of the grotto in honor of Our lady.
After the May Crowning, we will have the monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick for all who come forward.

June 2014

15/ Celebration of Father’s Day will take place at 11:30 AM Mass. Many families spend the day at the Shrine and have picnics or other family-time together. Consider making this part of your family tradition in honor of Father’s Day.

29/ Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick following the Sunday liturgy.

Bring your family, friends and lawn chairs and sit under the canopy of beautiful trees near Pilgrim Hall for this delightfully fun and relaxing summer afternoon. Leave a message with Jerry Buchas after Mass if you’re interested, or at the shrine office (860-567-1041).

15/ Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated today at 11:30 AM Mass in the Grotto. On this holy day of obligation we join the whole world in celebrating the promise of Resurrection for all who believe in God’s Word, Jesus Christ.

31/ Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick following the Sunday liturgy.

October 2014

4/ Annual blessing of animals on this Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. This afternoon, in the Grotto plaza, we welcome you to bring your pets for a special blessing through the intercession of the patron of gentleness and kindness to animals, St. Francis.

5/ We welcome the Connecticut State Knights of Columbus for this annual Living Rosary and prayer at the Grotto at 2:00 PM. This is a wonderful way to mark the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary which is celebrated annually on the 7th of October. There will be no 3 PM afternoon services today because of the numbers of people who come for the rosary prayer.

8/ Today is the last day for organized pilgrimages for this shrine season. Mass continues in the Grotto at 11:30 AM until the coming Sunday, when we close our shrine season for the winter months. Today also marks the seasonal closing of the Grotto Cafe.

12/ Annual Harvest Dinner is held today following the Sunday liturgy. Please make sure you have tickets which go on sale in September.

Today is also the last Sunday Mass celebrated at the Grotto for 2014.
