Calendar of Events at the Shrine and Montfort House February 2010 to December 2010 February 2010 February 2: Solemnity of the Presentation of the Lord. Join us for a blessing of candles and procession to the chapel at Montfort House. Liturgy begins at 10:30 AM at Montfort House. February 11: Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Mass will be celebrated today at 10:30 AM in honor of our patroness. This is also the World Day of the Sick. February 12: Valentine’s Day Dance – 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm – in Pilgrim Hall at the Shrine of Lourdes in Litchfield. Proceeds go toward Haitian Relief Efforts Live music by the jazz trio, SMOOTH SOUNDS. Donation: $25 per couple $15 per person. Reservations: Lori Buchas – 860-485-0279 or gbuchas@snet.net. Hors D’oeuvres, soda, coffee, tea, dessert, BYOB February 17: Ash Wednesday. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM in the Montfort House chapel and it will include the distribution of ashes as we mark the beginning of our Lenten Pilgrimage. Please come to be with us in prayer this day. Remember it is a day of fast and abstinence. February 26: Lenten Dinner at Montfort House – 6:30 to 9:00 pm. “Come to the Table” Hands-on Cooking Demonstration, dinner and facilitated Lenten discussion. $20 per person. Offering required with Reservations. Please call early as space is limited. 860-567-1041. February 27: Lenten Day of Recollection at Montfort House - presented by Fr. Bill Considine, SMM. 9:00 to 3:00 pm - $20.00 per person – Lunch included. Coffee/breads on arrival, talk, 10:30 AM Mass, Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please call the office to make your reservations since space is limited. 860-567-1041. February 28: Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated at the end of the weekly liturgy in the Grotto Chapel. Mass begins at 10:30 AM. April 2010 April 15th thru 18th: Semi-Annual Tag Sale. All donations from the sales benefit the Shrine. April 17th: Saturday Evening of Music and Fine Dining and Wine Pairing – Lourdes in Litchfield Fundraiser. 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Dinner prepared by Chefs Karen Buchas and Lynn Seery. Music by Smooth Sounds. Tickets: $60 per person. Call 860-567-1041 for reservations by April 5. Space limited so call early!!!! April 24th: Annual Clean-up Day. Consider coming to help clean-up the grounds of the Shrine after a long winter in preparation for the upcoming Shrine Season. Call for more details or to let us know you’re coming between 9:00 and 1:00! Please bring rakes, gloves, and yourself. April 25th: Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick after Mass. April 28th: Feast of St. Louis de Montfort. Mass is celebrated today in honor of the founder of the Montfort Missionaries and the Daughters of Wisdom. 10:30 AM in the Montfort House Chapel. May 2010 May 1: Beginning of the 2010 Pilgrimage Season. Today marks the beginning of our 52nd Pilgrimage Season. Please remember to bring flowers or plants for the Grotto Plaza throughout the month of May. May 9: Mother’s Day. At the conclusion of mass today there will be a special blessing for all the women who are present. Please bring flowers and plants to help beautify the Grotto Plaza. May 16: Annual Blessing of Motorcycles. We continue the tradition of blessing motorcyclists who come today as they mark the beginning of the 2010 riding season. Blessing begins at 1:30 PM. There will be no 3:00 PM service today. More details in coming weeks, but you can call 860-567-1041 for directions or help. May 30: Trinity Sunday and Annual May Crowning. Following the Liturgy we will have the traditional crowning of the Blessed Mother’s statue in the Grotto. Following this celebration we will have the monthly prayer of the Sacrament of the Sick with all those who wish to celebrate this moment of Grace. June 2010 June 16: Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Following 11:30 AM mass we will have the traditional procession with the Blessed Sacrament from the Grotto to the Grotto Chapel where it will remain in exposition until the end of the 3 PM service (held in the Chapel). June 20: Father’s Day. At the conclusion of 11:30 AM mass today all the men who are present will be invited to receive a special blessing for Father’s Day. June 27: Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick after mass. July 2010 July 4: (Sunday) Please join us today for mass at 11:30 AM in the Grotto as we pray for our country and for peace. July 25: Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick after mass. August 2010  August 29: Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick after mass. September 2010 September 26: Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick after mass. October 2010 October 2: Blessing of Animals takes place today at 4:00 PM in the Grotto plaza. Hosted by the Connecticut Knights of Columbus, this yearly event helps us celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Prayer begins at 2:00 PM in the Grotto Plaza. October 13: Last date for group pilgrimages to the Grotto. Today marks the end our 2010 Pilgrimage Season. Any group interested in organizing a pilgrimage to the Grotto should arrange their visit before this date. Mass continues each day till Sunday the 17th at 11:30 AM in the Grotto. Please make pilgrimage reservations with our office secretary at 860-567-1041 or via email diana@shrinect.org. October 17: Annual Harvest Dinner and end of the 2010 Shrine Season. Harvest Dinner information to be updated. Tickets usually go one sale in September at the Grotto Gift Shop, the Grotto Café or in the office at Montfort House. 19/ Change of daily mass time to 10:30 AM and it is now prayed at the Montfort House Chapel. To get to the retreat house, simply follow the road up the hill and park in the lot to the right. October 21-24: Semi-Annual Tag Sale. All donations from the sales benefit the Shrine. October 24: Sunday Mass time changes to 10:30 AM today for the winter months. Celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick to follow todeay’s liturgy. November 2010 November 25: Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9:00 AM in the Grotto Chapel. November 28: Monthly celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick after mass. December 2010 December 8: Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Please join us today as we celebrate this holy day of obligation in the Grotto Chapel at 10:30 AM.
