About our Home

Montfort House and Retreat Facility was originally built in 1927 as a summer home for a local family. The Montfort Missionaries bought the house and property in 1947 and converted it into our seminary. Montfort House is built in the English tudor style and commands a wonderful presence overlooking our property and the Litchfield Valley.

Since the 1970s the house has welcomed men and women who come for organized retreats, days of recollection and moments of quiet prayer. We are able to welcome small groups up to 30 participants. We invite clergy, religious and parish staffs to come and rest in the peacefulness of our home, renewing in spirit and strength

It is also the home for those Montfort Missionaries who minister at the Shrine and in the nearby area. Presently we are a community of five priests from the United States, but we have had Montforts from all parts of the world helping at the shrine and retreat house.

During the months of November through April daily mass is celebrated in our house chapel at 10:30 AM from Monday to Saturday.

Welcome to those who come to pray, visit and appreciate the scenic views from our patio. A priest is often available to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation in English, Spanish, Italian, and French.

Come and experience all that God hopes to do in you.

Doing and Hoping

Consider “wasting” time with the Lord in quiet prayer and reflection at Montfort House. Contact our secretary to see if there is an opportunity for you to come and allow the Lord to fill your heart with His love and life in the simple beauty of this hilltop retreat center.
